Greenmark
In 2008-09, we developed new environmentally friendly policies and protocols to help us become more green. We worked with the London Metropolitan University to produce a GREENING MANUAL which we made available to other local voluntary sector organisations to try to spread the greening message.
In October 2014, Island House was proud to be awarded GreenMark Level 2 accreditation. This was thank to great efforts of our staff, tenant groups and volunteers in implementing our "Greening Island House" project from 2008-2014.
Green spaces
In 2009-10, the Island House rear garden was redeveloped, creating a designated, safe play area for toddlers, a patio and barbeque area, a wicker den and new storage sheds. This involved installing a new child friendly fire escape, a new water play and sand pit, climbing frame with slide and fruit/herb planting beds. Thanks to IDCF and LBTH Early Years for Capital grants that helped make this possible.
