Digital Skills & Employment Training

Do you need help finding suitable training to get back into work? Maybe you need support with CV writing or could benefit from learning some great interview techniques?

We continue to provide basic skills training and employment readiness courses for local people who are presently economically inactive and looking to get into the job market. We have helped a number of people find work and many have seen a huge boost in their confidence and qualifications through our training courses.

DevicesDotNow

Island House loves working in partnership and through the digital and social inclusion charity Good Things Foundation, we recently received ten devices from FutureDotNow aimed at providing emergency support to vulnerable constituents to help them get online. Across the country, many isolated people and families are unable to access the internet, meaning they cannot find health information, shop online for essentials, or access the Government services they need to support themselves. Working with our community partners, particularly Father Tom at Christ Church, we have distributed ten devices to local people who are now able to get online and access support and services.

Using a grant from the Good Things Foundation, we are a registered UK Online Centre and offer a huge selection of courses from the online skills directory, including the popular Learn My Way and English My Way for beginners. After completing online initial assessments for functional skills to identify their ability and level of support needed, we can offer a wide range of resources enabling learners to learn all the I.T. skills needed for online job searching, CV production, job applications, interview techniques and many others.
