During 2004 8 murals were produced by different Island House Usergroups. The project was called "painting the house" was designed to help us all think about what is important to us about Island House, living on the Isle of Dogs, and what we wanted for the future locally. The user groups that took part were:
- Advice centre
- Bengali women's group
- Craft club
- Cryptics youth group
- The Quran class
- The playgroup
- Playgroup parents
- Urban eyes youth project
Lots of different images found their way into the murals from fish to stereos and sunflowers to penguins. All the murals have different meanings behind them. They are now on display in front of the building or inside the reception and main hall.
The project was funded by St Katherine and Shadwell Trust and the community arts worker who supported us was Lucy Bergonzi
