Building work will be taking place at the centre for 6months. We will be doing the work in stages so that we remain open throughout this period. Where necessary some of the classes, projects and the playgroup will be relocated for a short period. If you want to find out more about the work please pop in and see our display in the reception or talk to staff.

Fundraising for this building work started last year and we have so far raised £230,000 of the £275,000 needed to complete the work. We will be holding a range of events over the next 6 months to reach our goal. Please keep your eyes peeled and come along to give your support. If any of you would like to get involved in running, doing parachute jumps or organising community events then please call Island House.

How Different will the building be after the work is completed?

*  A larger and smarter reception area for people coming into the building or waiting for appointments.

* Disabled access, lift and toilets so that all users can benefit from using the centre.

* Seperate advice interview rooms to improve privacy and security.

* A training room for youth achievement awards and adult basic skills.

* A community kitchen and lounge with hatches into the small hall for events and public health classes.

* A secure and safe children's area for the playgroup with separate children's toilets.
